Brimer Steel Erectors, Inc., was incorporated in November of 1985 by John Brimer, an ironworker with over five years experience, and a partner. Their only business at the time was the
placement of concrete reinforcing steel. They operated from a home-based office in rural Blount County.
John's father, Gerald Brimer joined the company in 1987 bringing over 30 years experience in the reinforcing steel industry. Gerald had been General Manager of Steel Service Co. in Knoxville.
John's brother, Mark Brimer, also from Steel Service joined the company in 1990. Mark's experience was in the area of post tensioning.
Virginia Brimer, John's mother, whom had been helping out in the office through the early years and allowed it to be based out of their home, was named secretary-treasurer and became an official member of this growing family business.
As Brimer Steel continued it's growth, it acquired several loyal employees who remain with the company to this day. It has also ventured quite successfully, into the crane rental, concrete forming, and structural steel businesses and remains East Tennessee's top rebar placement company.
Due to the recent increase and diversity in it's business, and the additional office staff required, Brimer Steel outgrew the several rooms it was taking up at the Brimer's home and has been relocated to an office/shop complex in Alcoa, Tennessee.
Several projects which Brimer Steel is quite proud to have been a part of are: Pellissippi Parkway Bridge, Blount County, Morristown City Hall, Riverside Towers, Pigeon Forge, and Memorial Hospital, Chattanooga.
